How we met

I met Sara at a mentoring programme with Darek Jasion that I had the pleasure of attending. We saw each other at group meetings, and I had just started doing website audits. I recorded an Instagram reel showing Sara's site, which was still built on Wix at the time, and pointed out a few things that could be improved to make the site look better.

Why it's worth leaving Wix

I mentioned it in that reel already: it's worth getting off Wix. First, it's relatively expensive, you can pay more than for hosting a regular site that doesn't take up much space, so it's not worth overpaying. Second, and this is key, Wix blocks site export. You could say you don't really own your website then.

With your own domain and hosting in your name, you fully own the site. Then you can do whatever you want with it. Worth flagging and worth remembering.

Strategy for the new site

I proposed Sara a new project designed to bring in more clients to her beauty salon and promote her training courses.

We took care of:

• Simplified navigation
• CTA buttons to book via the Booksy calendar
• Separate pages for each service, to strengthen SEO and content density, so Google picks it up and ranks Sara's site higher in search

Google Business Profile, the foundation of a local business

I also noticed Sara didn't have a Google Business Profile, meaning she was invisible on Google Maps. In a local, regional industry, this is the absolute basics. The foundation that, if we collect reviews and optimise the profile properly (title, description, adding photos, phone number, link to the site), puts us way above competitors who don't bother.

And if we stay consistent about it, we can become a regional leader in our industry very easily.

The design: individual and professional

I created a custom, clean design for Sara that fully reflects the professionalism of her beauty salon, and especially her rich, many years of experience working with clients.

The site is very easy to edit because it's WordPress + Breakdance Builder, the system I use for my clients' sites. It makes it easy to create new sections, new modules, copy them, and change content in just a few seconds. On top of that, I provide a full video tutorial, so editing the site is easy.

Support after launch

I'm always available: by phone, on WhatsApp, or email. I'm happy to help, answer questions, or even record a short video showing where to click to change or fix something on the site. Of course, if the client doesn't want to or doesn't have time to edit the site themselves, I can do it, and that was the case with Sara.

Expansion for training courses

Sara let me know she wanted to add more content about her training courses. We split everything into dedicated subpages, so anyone wanting to book a specific course sees all the information in one place.

Each course is written up separately, with detailed information, schedule, and sign-up options. Thanks to this, Sara has something that works for her 24/7: her clients can come in anytime, read the information, see available times, and get in touch with Sara.

Result

All these elements add up to Sara having a very well-running salon, a full calendar, and her website and Google Business Profile working for her: delivering traffic, a professional image, and clients.
