ZOP Chrzanów — sports facilities

Context

ZOP Chrzanów is the Zarząd Obiektów Powiatowych (County Facilities Authority) in Chrzanów, a public entity managing sports facilities in Chrzanów County. The ice rink, sports halls, tennis courts, infrastructure used by the county's residents every day.

This is another public-sector project where the site has to serve two groups: residents looking for information (schedules, opening hours, bookings), and external institutions (partnerships, sponsorship, submissions).

Scope of work

• Website design, a clear, functional layout matching the public character
• Implementation, WordPress with sections for every sports facility
• WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, required for a public website, full implementation

What the site includes

• Facility information, ice rink, halls, courts, each with its own section
• Schedules and hours, when it's open, which classes, which reservations
• Events and competitions, sports events for county residents
• Contact and bookings, the path for residents wanting to use the facilities

Why WCAG matters

A public entity's website must comply with the digital accessibility act. This isn't good practice or an extra, it's a legal obligation. Implementing WCAG 2.1 AA isn't only about alt tags and contrast, it's full compliance: keyboard navigation, screen reader, HTML semantics, proper headings.

I designed the site to be compliant with the standard from the start, not as a patch after the fact, but as the foundation of the project.

Result

ZOP Chrzanów got a functional, legally compliant website that genuinely serves the county's residents. A parent signing their child up for ice rink classes, a runner looking for a hall to train in, a tennis player wanting to book a court, everyone finds the information they need without friction.
